Methods: prospective, observational was conducted our clinic stroke symptoms. Patients known cranial pathologies, such as space- occupying lesions, those history clinically significant cerebrovascular events or sedative drug administration, altered consciousness due metabolic causes were excluded from study. The scores recorded by clinician. Cerebral arterial territories assessed on DWI CT. NIHSS evaluated. Results: Forty-three included mean cases 84.23 ± 9.50. There no correlation values (p<0.05). Conclusion: In study, decreased results should be reevaluated studies larger series reveal infarcted territories, score, index, GCS score.

National Institutes of Health stroke scale score and vessel occlusion in 2152 patients with acute ischemic stroke.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE There is some controversy on the association of the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score to predict arterial occlusion on MR arteriography and CT arteriography in acute stroke. METHODS We analyzed NIHSS scores and arteriographic findings in 2152 patients (35.4% women, mean age 66 ± 14 years) with acute anterior or posterior circulation strokes. RES...

Relationships between angiographic findings and National Institutes of Health stroke scale score in cases of hyperacute carotid ischemic stroke.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Stroke severity in cases of hyperacute carotid ischemic stroke may be related to site of arterial occlusion. We evaluated the relationships between National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores and findings on intra-arterial digital subtraction angiograms (IA-DSA) of patients with ischemic stroke within 6 hr of stroke onset. METHODS A total of 43 consecutive...
